The Vanguard Field Shirt is a modern piece of tactical apparel designed to meet the high demands of combat and rigorous training. The cut is tailored for comfortable wear under a ballistic vest or plate carrier, without seams digging in or restricting arm movement. The jacket is made from a lightweight and abrasion-resistant Ripstop NyCo fabric (a blend of 50% nylon and 50% cotton), which combines the breathability and soft feel of cotton with the strength and durability of synthetic fibers. The jacket features a stand-up collar for neck protection and a covered front zipper.

There are a total of four pockets on the chest: two with side zippered openings for secure storage of gear and two slip pockets with Velcro closures. The zippered pockets also function as ventilation openings to improve air circulation during physical activity. Elastic loops inside the chest pockets securely hold small gear in place. The sleeves feature reinforced material at the elbows with internal pockets for inserting protective padding. The shoulder pockets are equipped with large Velcro panels for attaching patches, while the sleeve cuffs can be easily tightened using Velcro loops.
