How to Use the Tourniquet

1. Place the tourniquet about 5–7 cm above the wound, but never directly over a joint (elbow, knee). If the injury site is covered by clothing and cannot be located quickly, place the tourniquet as high as possible on the limb.
2. Thread the strap through the buckle and pull it tight until the tourniquet fits snugly around the limb.
3. Turn the windlass until the bleeding stops completely and there is no pulse below the tourniquet.
4. Secure the windlass into the clip to prevent accidental loosening. Check its firmness.
5. Write the application time on the “TIME” label or another visible place – this is crucial information for rescuers.
