US Paratroopers were issued these clicking “crickets”, which were intended to use to communicate with other Airborne troops, in the total darkness of night, immediately preceding the Normandy landings on D-Day June 6, 1944. This was a simple yet effective way to identify a solider as “friend or foe,” as a very distinct “click” sound is made when it’s pressed. Our Military Cricket Clicker Clacker is a high-quality, working replica with a genuine brass and steel construction, and it’s stamped with “U.S.” It’s a great military collectible but it can also be handy for home, camping and office use. Today, it’s most commonly used as a dog training device. The replica clicker clacker’s approximate dimensions are 2 1/4”x 1”x 5/8” and it has a lanyard hole for convenient carry.
