WX APEX Sunglasses by Wiley X®

The WX APEX by Wiley X® combines modern design, high comfort, and protective performance in a style suitable for both everyday wear and active use. The ultralightweight frame is designed to keep the sunglasses comfortable even during extended wear, while the durable construction withstands increased mechanical stress.

At the core are impact-resistant Selenite™ polycarbonate lenses and a lightweight Triloid™ nylon frame. The lenses feature a T-Shell™ coating for increased scratch resistance, an anti-reflective coating, and an oleophobic coating. The latter helps keep the lens surfaces clean.

The construction is complemented by stainless steel temples with rubberised temple tips and a rubberised nose pad. These contact points help keep the sunglasses securely in place during everyday wear and active movement. Side shields for increased lateral eye protection are also included. The sunglasses can also be fitted with prescription lenses.

They feature a moderately curved Medium Wrap profile with a Base Curve 6 and are designed for medium to large head sizes. The frame width is 140 mm and the temple length is 135 mm. The model meets the requirements of the ANSI Z87.1+ and ISO 12312-1 standards.

All available variants feature CAPTIVATE™ lens technology, which filters selected parts of the light spectrum to enhance the perception of contrast, colours, and details. The lenses also provide 100% UVA/UVB protection. Specific optical properties vary depending on the selected variant.

CAPTIVATE™ Polarized Blue Mirror / Gloss Black Variant

This variant combines a gloss black frame with blue mirrored polarised lenses. The CAPTIVATE™ Polarized Blue Mirror lenses feature a grey base and reduce distracting glare from reflective surfaces and reflected blue HEV light from the water. They balance the visible light spectrum to keep most colours looking natural while enhancing green tones. They are particularly suitable for intense sunlight, deep-water fishing, outdoor activities, and daytime driving.

CAPTIVATE™ Polarized Tungsten Mirror / Matte Black Variant

The matte black frame is complemented by Tungsten Mirror polarised lenses designed to enhance contrast and colours in varying light conditions. The polarising filter reduces intense glare from reflective surfaces. This variant is suitable for bright sunlight as well as changing light conditions, fishing, everyday outdoor activities, and daytime driving. Light transmission is 15%.

CAPTIVATE™ Polarized Black Mirror / Matte Tortoise Brown Variant

This variant with a matte tortoise brown frame features Black Mirror polarised lenses. Their design supports natural perception of colours and details while reducing intense glare from reflective surfaces. This makes them suitable for everyday wear, outdoor activities, fishing, boating, and driving.

CAPTIVATE™ Grey / Gloss Crystal Clear Variant

The gloss crystal clear frame is fitted with CAPTIVATE™ Grey lenses, which maintain natural colour perception, balance the visible light spectrum, and enhance green tones. They provide protection against UVA/UVB radiation as well as blue HEV light and are suitable for intense sunlight, everyday outdoor activities, and daytime driving. Light transmission is 17%. The manufacturer also recommends this variant for work and safety applications.
