WX ALFA Sunglasses by Wiley X®
The WX ALFA combines a classic square shape with a protective construction and a high level of wearing comfort. Its versatile design is suitable for everyday use and active outdoor pursuits, while depending on the selected lens option, the sunglasses are also suitable for fishing, driving, boating, or work.
The frame is made from durable and lightweight Triloid™ nylon and is complemented by thin, adjustable bayonet temples and rubberised nose pads. This design helps provide a comfortable and secure fit. The sunglasses also feature removable side shields, which can be easily attached or removed depending on the intended use.
Enhanced lens durability during regular use is provided by a scratch-resistant T-Shell™ coating. The sunglasses meet the requirements of the ANSI Z87.1+ standard.
The sunglasses also meet the requirements of the EN 166F standard for protection against low-energy impact. During testing, the frame and lens must withstand the impact of a 6 mm steel ball weighing 0.86 g at a speed of 162 km/h. To successfully pass the test, the lens must remain securely in the intact frame and must not shatter. This standard confirms a high level of mechanical resistance when the sunglasses are used as protective eyewear.
The individual WX ALFA versions differ primarily in their frame design and lens technology. Options include classic grey lenses for bright light conditions as well as advanced CAPTIVATE™ polarised lenses, which reduce glare and manage light transmission to enhance contrast, colours, and details.
CAPTIVATE™ Polarized Grey / Gloss Black Version
The gloss black frame is fitted with grey CAPTIVATE™ polarised lenses. The technology helps balance the visible light spectrum, keeps most colours neutral, and enhances green tones and contrast while reducing glare from reflective surfaces. The lenses have a grey base colour and provide 100% UVA/UVB protection as well as protection against blue light (HEV). They are particularly suitable for intense sunlight, outdoor sports, deep-water fishing, everyday daytime outdoor activities, and daytime driving.
CAPTIVATE™ Polarized Blue Mirror / Gloss Clear Crystal Version
The gloss Clear Crystal frame is complemented by CAPTIVATE™ Polarized Blue Mirror lenses with a grey base colour. Their design reduces reflected blue HEV light from the surface of the water and minimises distracting glare. At the same time, the lenses help maintain neutral perception of most colours while enhancing green tones. They provide 100% UVA/UVB protection as well as protection against blue light (HEV). They are particularly suitable for bright sunlight, deep-water fishing, daytime outdoor activities, and driving. The light transmission of these lenses is 11%. Recommended activities include fishing, outdoor activities, everyday wear, boating, and driving.
Grey / Crystal Green Version
The transparent Crystal Green frame is combined with classic grey lenses. These absorb colours evenly, helping to maintain natural colour perception. They are designed primarily for bright light conditions, where they provide a high level of glare reduction. The lenses offer 100% UVA/UVB protection and are particularly suitable for outdoor activities and everyday wear. The light transmission of these lenses is 15%.
CAPTIVATE™ Polarized Bronze Mirror / Gloss Crystal Light Olive/Grey Version
The gloss transparent Light Olive/Grey frame is complemented by CAPTIVATE™ Polarized Bronze Mirror lenses with a copper base colour. The lenses enhance contrast, reduce blue HEV light, and increase the perceived saturation of red, yellow, and green tones. They particularly enhance yellow tones while also reducing glare from reflective surfaces. They provide 100% UVA/UVB protection as well as protection against blue light (HEV). They are suitable for bright sunlight and changing light conditions, overcast days, hiking, spending time at the beach, daytime driving, and shallow-water fishing.
Grey / Matte Black Version
The matte black frame is fitted with classic grey lenses that absorb colours evenly while maintaining natural colour perception. They provide a high level of glare reduction in bright light conditions and 100% protection against UVA/UVB radiation. This versatile version is particularly suitable for outdoor activities and everyday wear. The light transmission of these lenses is 15%.
