The Recon Smock Jacket by Helikon is a durable tactical jacket based on the classic military smock design. It is primarily designed for reconnaissance and sniper operations where carrying a substantial amount of equipment without a belt-mounted load-bearing system is essential. Thanks to its thoughtfully arranged pockets, the jacket allows you to distribute your gear evenly around your body while keeping essential items easily accessible during movement, observation duties, and extended periods in the field.

The jacket is made from durable Duracanvas Heavy fabric with a weight of 225 g/m², consisting of 65% polyester and 35% cotton. Its densely woven structure provides excellent resistance to mechanical wear and enhanced wind protection, making it suitable for demanding use in open terrain. The fabric can also be additionally treated with wax to improve its water-repellent properties.

One of the jacket's main advantages is its eleven strategically positioned pockets, allowing you to carry a substantial amount of equipment without the need for additional belt-mounted pouches. Four spacious main pockets feature protective flaps and Canadian-style buttons, ensuring secure closure even during intensive movement. Two flat zippered chest pockets provide quick access to maps, a notebook, compass, or documents. Additional equipment can be stored in expandable sleeve pockets and two side pockets at waist level, suitable for items such as a canteen, radio, or first-aid kit. A dedicated hand-warming compartment is also included. Selected pockets feature internal attachment loops for securing small items with a cord, helping prevent accidental loss.

At the back, the jacket features a large full-width storage pocket designed to carry a poncho, lightweight insulated jacket, or other soft equipment. Thanks to zippered access from both sides, you can reach the contents with either hand without removing the jacket. A mesh panel on the back also promotes air circulation and improves ventilation.

To help regulate body temperature during movement, the jacket is equipped with large underarm ventilation zippers that increase airflow without having to open the front. The main closure combines a zipper and snap buttons, allowing you to leave the zipper open and fasten the jacket using only the snap buttons in warmer weather. This keeps your torso covered while improving ventilation.

Protection against adverse weather conditions is provided by a spacious ergonomic hood with three-point adjustment, allowing it to be adapted to changing conditions. Adjustable drawcords at the waist and hem help reduce wind penetration, stabilize the jacket during movement, and adjust the fit to accommodate additional clothing layers. The sleeve cuffs feature hook-and-loop adjustment, allowing you to regulate their width even when wearing gloves.

The sleeves also feature hook-and-loop panels for attaching identification patches or other compatible insignia.
