Curved Hone 4-Pack Lansky
Specifically designed to shar pen inwardly curved blades such as kukris, karambits, hawkbills and scythes, this set of hones will quickly bring any inwardly curved blade from completely dull to razor sharp.
Curved Hone 4-Pack includes four curved hones with different coarseness and grit:
- Coarse Curved Hone (Grit 120) - for quickly producing a cutting edge
- Medium Curved Hone (Grit 280) - for keeping a sharp edge
- Fine Curved Hone (Grit 600) - for refining an already sharp edge
- Ultra Fine Curved Hone (Grit 1000) - for polishing an already sharp edge to razor sharpness

The set looks different than in the picture. Silicon carbide, from which they are fine and extra fine whetstone is gray to white and very soft. When sanding dry they have a much stronger abrasion than I'm used to from flat and serrated grinders of the same roughness, they clog quickly and are difficult to clean (perhaps with an underwater brush). There is an even greater loss of whetstone after soaking with water. The oil cannot be used at all, it soaks in like gypsum and also carbide is cut. With these two grinders (fine and ultra fine), polishing, sharpening and finishing are hard to talk about. The loss is that during one grinding, the "curved" shape loses and the blade becomes dull again. Waste of money. However, both coarser grinders are great, they shape the blade, but you will not grind it with finer ones.

Sada vypadá jinak než na obrázku. Karbid křemíku, ze kterého jsou jemný a extra jemný brousek je šedý až bílý a velmi měkký. Při broušení nasucho mají o hodně silnější otěr, než jsem zvyklý z plochých a serrated brousků stejné hrubosti, rychle se zanese a čištění je obtížné (snad kartáčkem pod vodou). Ještě větší úbytek brousku je po napuštění vodou. Olej nelze použít vůbec, vsakuje se jako do sádry a také tak se karbid ukrajuje. U těchto dvou brousků (fine a ultra fine) se o leštění, doostřování a finišování dá jen těžko mluvit. Úbytek je takový, že při jednom broušení ztratí „curved“ tvar a čepel zase ztupí. Waste of money. Oba hrubší brousky jsou ale super, čepel vytvarují, ale jemnějšími ji už nedobrousíš.
