Shemagh originated somewhere in the Middle East, where it has been used for many centuries. The British SAS were first to introduce the shemagh to the military after World War II and within 60 years it has been adopted by many armies around the world.
Unlike the classic Palestine patterns, the multifunctional Blaze Wrap variant has the logo of the American company 5.11 (which manufactures tactical equipment) embroidered all over the centre and it is also noticeably larger.
